You Only Get One First Impression

If you’ve been in business you’ve probably heard of an elevator pitch. If you haven’t, the premise is to explain the Who, What and How of your business in 60 seconds or less.

You have the same opportunity to give your “elevator pitch” to millions online. How? Your social media bio!

When someone comes to your Facebook page or Instagram profile the first things they should see is Who you are, What you do/ What problem you solve and How to contact you.

Think about your bio. Are people able to gather that information in their first look at your account?

You only get one chance to make a good first impression and that’s true even on social media! Make sure you’re putting your best foot forward by having the most important information easy to find!

When Should You Start Advertising?

Whether it’s a major holiday or just because, many businesses have sales or promotions.

Are you having a sale? When were you going to tell your clients?

If you’re planning on having a Black Friday sale you wouldn’t wait until the Wednesday before to advertise it! But you also wouldn’t advertise for Black Friday in July.

A good rule of thumb is to advertise a week or two before the sale in order to peak interest and allow people the time to prepare to spend money with you. You can also use this time to build anticipation for what you’re offering.

When you’re ready to start promoting your sale, promotion or event you should strongly consider using paid ads on social media! There are almost 300 million Facebook users in the United States alone that you could be advertising to for significantly less than a radio ad or billboard!

Look Up! It’s a… billboard?

When was the last time you used a billboard?

Yeah, I get that you pass them all the time, but when was the last time you looked at a billboard & thought “I’m gonna call them about _(blank)_ service” or “Let me remember to check that out!”, because we’re not supposed to be texting & driving?!

Now food, I’ll remember! lol! I know that’s how I learned when Wendy’s & Taco Bell started serving breakfast! But I, personally, have never contacted an attorney, bought a brand or contacted a business because I saw their billboard.

I recently saw these pictures on social media. Tony “The Closer” Robinson made the grand gesture of buying a billboard in Times Square for his fashion designer girlfriend Nichole Lynel. The instagram page I found this on, Spiritual World, did a little research and found that a billboard in Times Square can start at $5000 and go well over $50,000!

Now, this was a risky investment that luckily worked for this couple! Yes, millions of people pass through Times Square and had the opportunity to see this ad, but what use is that to potential clients in Los Angeles? Dallas? Miami? Luckily for them, they each posted this generous gift to their over 500K combined followers, a few blog accounts caught wind of it and it went viral.

Plus we know millions of “eyes” seeing the ads doesn’t add up to an equal amount of sales. Going viral definitely helped but just the billboard alone was no guarantee her business would see an influx of sales.

There’s really no guarantee in any form of advertising. The only guarantee is that it reach the maximum amount of people without breaking the bank. Had he invested half of what he spent on those two billboards towards paid ads on social media, it might not have gone viral, but she would’ve reached even more people! Plus a simple click would have whisked them right over to her website, converting those it reached to leads, and from leads to buyers/clients!

I won’t discredit this gift, and if I were gifted a billboard in Times Square I certainly wouldn’t be upset by it! However, as a business woman, I’d want the best investment of those funds. Wouldn’t you?

Social media advertising is an amazing tool that many businesses don’t take advantage of! If you’d like to know more about setting up paid ads on social media and advertising using digital marketing don’t hesitate to contact us today!
