I’ve made a lot of content about marketing, advertising and digital marketing… but what exactly is Digital Marketing?

According to MailChimp‘s glossary: “Digital Marketing, also called online marketing, is the promotion of brands to connect with potential customers using the internet and other forms of digital communication. This includes not only email, social media, and web-based advertising, but also text and multimedia messages as a marketing channel.”
By that definition you’ve probably already been doing some digital marketing for your business. But not every method will work for every type of business.
Some popular forms of digital marketing include:
- Using a Website
- Social Media Accounts
- Social Media Advertising
- Email Marketing
- SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
- SEM (Search Engine Marketing)
- PPC (Pay Per Click)
- Producing Content
Essentially anything you’re doing online to increase your visibility and potentially generate new clients counts as digital marketing. I’m willing to bet you’ve done at least two of the things listed above.
It’s not necessary for businesses to do every form of Digital Marketing I listed. In fact, it doesn’t matter how many types you decide to implement, if you don’t have a solid strategy you’re not going to get the results you’re looking for!
